Lincoln County Weather Monitoring ...

Its Fall and our weather is turning wet and windy with power outages, downed trees and landslides all possible.

Here are a few weather monitoring and preparation ideas for you:

  • Keep an eye on TripCheck Oregon for current road conditions before heading out
  • Local road conditions here
  • NOAA Weather Alerts for Lincoln County here
  • National Weather Service (NWS) forecast here
  • Do your laundry regularly so you have plenty of warm clothes available
  • Make sure all your rechargeable devices are charged and ready to go
  • Position flashlights where you may need them
  • Ensure anything lightweight outside is in a storage shed or garage so it doesn't blow away
  • Do a grocery/pharmacy run in advance of a storm in case you need any supplies
  • Dig out your rain pants, yellow slicker, rubber boots, poncho, gloves, etc .. position them strategically in case you need to go unclog a storm drain outside
  • Make sure you are signed up for Lincoln Alerts
  • Radio Stations:
    • Otter Rock Radio (100.7 FM),
    • United States Coast Guard - 1610 kHz (9 fixed Information Stations along the shore)
    • KBCH-AM  1400 AM, Lincoln City.
    • KCRF-FM  96.7 FM, Lincoln City.
  • Monitor the weather at sea using the NOAA buoys like this one:

Also, if the power does go out or you just want to monitor what's going on, make sure your NOAA radio is charged and your GMRS radio is fully charged.

If you have the BTech GMRS V1, monitor channel 15 and your "island" channel.  Chart below.  You could also turn the scanner loose and see what's going on with NLFR, Police, Sheriff, PacWest Ambulance, etc.
