All new electronic gadgets can be intimidating until you practice and get comfortable with them. As time goes by what we learned we sometimes forget.
Here are a few quick “tips and tricks” to help with the BTech GMRS V1 radio:
Power - twist the knob at the top of the radio clockwise to turn the unit on and increase the volume.
Frequency Mode - to enter frequency mode, hold down the Menu button while turning on the power. If you want to switch back to Channel Mode, turn the power off then hold down the Menu button while turning the power back on.
Example is with the 🔺 on the top line, type in 145370 to monitor HAM frequency 145.370
Use the Exit/AB button to move to the lower line and type in 155535 (Lincoln City Police) to monitor frequency 155.535 (note - I already programmed this for scanning)
EXIT/AB - use this button on the top right of the keypad to move between the upper and lower row on the display
*SCAN - (In Channel Mode) Push this button in the lower left corner and hold it until the radio (she) talks to you and says, “Scanning Begin” -- Push EXIT/AB to stop scanning.
#🗝 - push and hold this button in the lower right corner to Lock and Unlock the radio
2TXP - Push MENU then this button (the number 2 button) to switch between high and low power. Push the buttons on the radio in the sequence below to try it out:
MENU
2TXP
MENU (she will say “power”)
Push Up or Down arrow to move between Low and High (2 Watt vs 5 Watt)
MENU (she will say “confirm”)
EXIT/AB
Squelch - suggest setting at “5” by pushing MENU then 0 (zero) then MENU (she will say “squelch”), then using the arrow key to get to “5” then push “MENU” again (she will say “confirm”). This helps reduce weak signals disrupting your communication.
Programming - in case you reset the radio and need it re-programmed, please let me know and I can help fix it (quickly).
